it's not just a matter of life and death
Or, why I am a Liverpool supporter. (As a warning—this was my personal essay, and it’s a long read.)
To be straightforward, I am desperately in love with Liverpool Football Club. The doomed, obsessive, never-let-you-go kind of love. This affliction can be inconvenient, as the time difference between England and the U.S. means that I am often awake at 6 A.M. to watch matches on...

lots to say about football
Okay.
Firstly, please be thinking of Brad Jones and Dani Lawrence on the death of their son, Luca, who suffered from leukemia for most of his short life. Brad is a goalkeeper with LFC and Dani is his long-time partner, and I cannot imagine what their struggle.
Secondly, Gary Speed, the Wales national team manager, committed suicide and was found in his home early this morning. He was a great...

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
C.J.: Sorry to ask you this, sir, but...
Bartlet: Not too late to stop yourself.
C.J.: I need you to pardon a turkey.
Bartlet: I already pardoned a turkey.
C.J.: I need you to pardon another one.
Bartlet: Didn't I do it right?
C.J.: You did it great, but I need you to come out here and pardon another one.
Bartlet: Aren't I going to get a reputation for being soft on turkeys?
C.J.: Sir, can you come out here and just get this over with?
Bartlet: No, I'm not gonna just get this... What the hell's going on?
C.J.: They sent me two turkeys. The more photo-friendly of the two gets a Presidential pardon and a full life at a children's zoo. The runner-up gets eaten.
Bartlet: If the Oscars were like that, I'd watch.

How difficult is it for me to tutor fifth-graders...
Very. Or so it would seem.
Last week’s tutoring session, which I signed up for ages ago—cancelled last-minute, and they credited me with service hours.
I signed up again this week because I felt bad about not going—just found out that it was cancelled last-minute, and they’re crediting me again.
2 free hours for zero time spent tutoring. Welp.
